I’m going to answer the question from today’s title right away. Yes.

Since the 1960’s the intellectual elite, who avoided the draft by hiding out in the university system, have sought to use higher education to promote their pacifist socialist ideology. Their trainees in turn became the trainers of the next generation of fresh young minds ready to absorb whatever they needed to in order to get the degree. Left out of this indoctrination system were America’s working class voters. The unions took care of many of those. But not everyone bought into the elite’s vision that they should control the whole system because they knew what was best for everyone else. There were still some who escaped the indoctrination of the intelligencia.

While not the entire reason we are seeing a push for everyone to go to college, this desire to subject as many future voters as possible to their ideological factory  cannot be denied as a pillar of the post-secondary-degree-for-all campaign.

Common Core sets the foundation for this kind of “we’re all global citizens with responsibility for taking care of everyone else” mentality in K-12. This creates the “natural” view that everyone should be taught the same thing. The university system cements this vision in place by refusing to confer the papers necessary for employment (unless you start your own company), until the student can parrot back the “correct” common ideological answers.

There is just no data to support the need for 60+% of our K-12 graduates to go to college to get a degree. Still, parents feel the unrelenting push is to send their children there so they can get a job. They are hit constantly with the message that everyone’s goal is to make the child COLLEGE or career ready. No one from the Common Core camp has been able to satisfactorily explain how a single K-12 curriculum is going to prepare students for one and not the other outcome, so in essence we are preparing to catapult everyone into college while accepting that some just won’t quite make it over the wall.

No parent wants their child to be unable to leave the nest and make it on their own. And if the business community stands firm on the requirement for a college degree, then college becomes a veritable a necessity.  But what is a parent to do, knowing that the training their child will receive in college will also include high levels of social justice theology?

I work hard. I served in the military. I respect our history, the Constitution, and America’s historical values of freedom, the rule-of-law, individual responsibility, and the free-marketplace of products and ideas.

I slaved for a decade to be able to send my daughters to college. I spent tens of thousands of dollars a year in order to provide them a high-quality education so they will have a leg-up on life.

Then one day, my oldest daughter comes home during her sophomore year and says something disturbing. “I want a government job. I’ll never work for a corporation,” she says. My jaw hit the floor.

“Where are you learning this crap?” I asked incredulously. Come to find out, her professors are all Marxist and are filling these young minds full of communist mush, literally.

The site  lists several books to help parents deprogram their children and provides a collection of posts from various writers around the country who seriously study Marxist, communist, and socialist history, for those who want to know more about this world view that their children are being exposed to. The site owner claims that many of the people who check out DYCS are under 30 which, if they are coming seeking a counter balancing viewpoint is a good sign for the upcoming generation.

In a post written for the Washington Times and reposted on DYCS, Todd Wood wrote,

In the Soviet Union, there were many evils. The main crime, which bred all others, was to extinguish the inner soul of a person, to make him or her just like everyone else, to make him or her a slave to Big Brother, to kill the human spirit. The human suffering continues. In fact, many of these old evils are returning in various forms. Many of the people are zombies, glued to the television and believing what they are told to believe. There is very little independent thinking. Those who want to be free, for the most part, have left.

Does that sound like anything happening in America today? Or this comment from Richard Ebeling in EpicTimes.com

The evil of the Soviet system is that it was not cruelty for cruelty’s sake. Rather it was cruelty for a purpose – to make a new Soviet man and a new Soviet society. This required the destruction of everything that had gone before; and it also entailed the forced creation of a new civilization, as conjured up in the minds of those who had appointed themselves the creators of this brave new world… So much did they love the vision of a blissful communist future to come that they were willing to sacrifice all of the traditional conceptions of humanity and morality to bring the utopia to fruition.

Anyone recall Al Gore telling a group of students that they knew things their parents didn’t? That kind of ego stroking of impressionable minds clears away the moral and factual training of the parents and paves the way to writing a whole new set of principles upon which to lead ones life. Gore functions completely in the modern university professorial mindset which is ready to tell others how to live, to obliterate that sacred family bond in order to reprogram the student to do the elite’s bidding.

For parents who think their child isn’t going to make it without the college degree, isn’t going to start their own business or who don’t have a family business (or Foundation if you’re a Clinton) to provide an income for their child, college may be a necessarily evil. Deprogramyourcollegestudent says,

You have to re-educate your college students. You have to teach your son to be a man. Teach your daughters to stand up for the truth, to not be worried about offending others. Teach your children to follow their internal compass, to be free. Open their eyes to what is being taught in our “hallowed” universities. Our children today don’t even know what freedom is. They are zombies to Big Brother. Tell them there will be hell to pay if they bring home a Leftist for dinner.

My first priority is to do no harm to the children entrusted to my temporary care.”
